ASL Director -- Dr. Robert R. Tomes (b. 1969)
Dr. Robert R. Tomes is Senior Advisor to the NGA Technical Director, National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA). He is a member of the Council for Emerging National Security Affairs. His is widely published on security and defense matters and his work has appeared in POLICY REVIEW, NATIONAL SECURITY STUDIES QUARTERLY, NAVAL WAR COLLEGE REVIEW, JOINT FORCE QUARTERLY, ARMED FORCES AND SOCIETY, and DEFENCE STUDIES. Dr. Tomes was an ASL Fellow in the 1994-95 academic year and served as an Army officer. He received a BA in political science and history and an MA from Iowa State University. He received his PhD from the University of Maryland.
