Sample Calendar | Program Coordinator | Where ASL Fellows Have Graduated
ASL fellows participate in at least two special meetings each month with the ASL Program Coordinator. At least one meeting each month involves interaction with the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF). The ASL program coordinator arranges activities, staff rides, briefings, formal facility visits, and other exchanges with Israeli officers. The monthly excursions during the 2003-2004 academic year included the following:
- September/October 2003: Jerusalem borders, security fence, and checkpoints
- November 2003: Israeli-Lebanese border and northern security fence
- December 2003: Demography and trip to central IDF absorption base at Bakum
- January 2004: War of Independence, Burma Road tour and visit to IDF paratrooper training base
- February 2004: visit to Ariel and the Palmach Museum
- March 2004: the reserve army and the Israel Air Force Museum
- April 2004: visit to Gush Etzion and the Central Command reserve training base
Toward the end of each academic year, the ASL fellows are expected to prepare a report detailing their experiences. The full reports from 2003-04, 2004-05, 2005-06 , and 2006-07 available in .pdf form.
